What personal data we collect and why we collect it

LOGS

If you use this website, we collect technically necessary data which is automatically transmitted to our server by your browser (e.g. browser type/browser version, operating system used, referrer URL, pages called up, length of visit, IP address, date and time of enquiry). This is technically necessary in order to display our website to you. As far as personal data is concerned, Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR is the legal basis for the collection. This data will not be combined with other sources of data. We reserve the right to examine this data in retrospect, if we become aware that it has been used for unlawful purposes.

Analytics

This site uses WordPress.com Stats to record site statistics.

As per their FAQ,

Stats tracks and retains the following information about your site’s visitors:

  • Post and page views
  • video plays
  • outbound link clicks
  • referring URLs and search engine terms
  • country

As part of collating the above information, Stats uses data like IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, and country code. However, none of this information is available to site owners. For example, a site owner can see that a specific post has 285 views, but he/she cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed that post. Furthermore, the Stats logs, in which this information is stored, are only retained for 28 days.

For more information about the use of data of this plugins’ maintainer (Automattic), please refer to their privacy statement.
